Of course, there's a little more to it than that. Here, you just glue the bricks in the holes. We've made these before without the template it requires a lot of measuring and marking. The template makes the assembly step so easy. For this demo, we used Star Wars paper, to show of our favorite minifigures from a galaxy far, far, away. There are enough options to handle your particular theme. You can find this at your favorite craft store and the price per piece is typically under a dollar. Lastly, you'll need patterned scrap book paper. You can go to any Lego store to buy them, but we recommend picking some up at a yard sale, from a neighbor, or from your excess stock. Test assemble it in the frame, excluding the glass (non-broken hopefully) and the paper certificate. Cut the foam board to 8.5 inches by 11 inches. You may have some at your house or you can purchase it at any craft store, many dollar stores or even some pharmacies. We thus opted to mount them to a foam board. We could foresee the bricks peeling or falling off upon removal of the minifigures from the display. The cardboard backing just did not seem sturdy enough to support the bricks. We pulled the backing off of the frame and removed the glass and the paper certificate.
Unfortunately, it was glass, which we discovered after we broke it. We were going to glue the template and bricks to this surface. You wouldn't want to damage your World's Best Crafter award, now would you? When we put together this demo, we were hoping that it was plexiglass. This particular frame had a glass protective cover.
It was a Certificate of Achievement frame we think it's for the World's Best Crafter. We picked up a frame at Dollar Tree for, you guessed it, 1 dollar. You'll therefore need a frame that fits those dimensions.
The template design for this minifigure frame is 8.5"X11".
